For Hydromars, the shipping industry, especially submarines, is of high interest considering its demanding environmental requirements similar to the ones on ISS.
Hydromars has started a collaboration with imec and imec.istart to explore the shipping market in Belgium – home to one of the busiest ports in Europe.
The initial market report will be financed by Uppsala Innovation Centre (UIC) and delivered by imec.istart during March 2023 with further plans for collaboration.
Among market potential, the report will cover issues like: in-port waste management systems developed in Belgium, an overview of the utilization of fresh water during shipping activities, brief about shipping regulations and the potential of different energy sources/waste heat availability.
