Space is no longer just a dream, it's the future. The winners of the future will be those who can solve the most fundamental challenges: water, air, and life.

Dr. Sherwin Gormly, former research lead at NASA’s Ames Research Center in California, joins the team bringing expertise, drive, and connections that will be instrumental in launching our technology to the global market.

With over three decades of experience developing life-support systems for space missions and advising multiple space-focused startups, Dr. Gormly brings knowledge that will greatly contribute to Hydromars’ development.

His mission, together with Hydromars, is to accelerate the development of our Xzero technology, a breakthrough in water purification for space, with the potential to transform both space travel and life on Earth.

Water - The Most Critical Resource in the Universe
Every space mission is about survival, and it all begins with water. In space, there are no reserves, no new supply. That means every drop must be recycled. A single system failure could jeopardize an entire mission.

That’s why Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS), the technology that makes human life in space possible, are absolutely crucial. But Hydromars looks beyond that. We know that the solutions enabling sustainable life in space can also make life more sustainable here on Earth.

Our Unique Technology, Xzero, Changes the Game
Today’s water recycling systems on the International Space Station (ISS) are based on technology developed in the 1990s. The current system, still in operation on the ISS, is often described as complex, maintenance-intensive, and inefficient. Despite decades of NASA research, modernized systems have never been implemented onboard.

As a result, the ISS currently recycles only about 64% of water from treated urine, far below the levels required for future space colonies. This is where Hydromars’ Xzero technology provides the answer.

Our goal is, of course, 100% recycling. The Xzero system is not just a technical advancement, it represents a shift in how we think about life-support systems. It’s a system that can be scaled up or down, commercialized, and most importantly, truly transform the market.

Hydromars’ technology has already been tested and validated, demonstrating purification levels and stability never achieved before.

Market
With launch costs around $2,000 per kilogram to low Earth orbit (LEO), a single Xzero unit that recycles 2,500 liters of water becomes cost-effective after just six months. For a space station with four crew members, the system can save millions of dollars annually, opening up a $50 million market opportunity by 2030, even under conservative projections.

But it’s not just about numbers. It’s about building the infrastructure required for a sustained human presence in space, while also driving innovation in sustainable water management here on Earth.

The Next Chapter: Sustainability Beyond Earth
Hydromars stands at the forefront of a new era in Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS). By solving one of humanity’s greatest technical challenges, efficient and reliable water recycling, Hydromars is paving the way for life in space and a more sustainable future on Earth.

With Dr. Sherwin Gormly’s experience and Hydromars’ Xzero technology, we unite science, innovation, and business opportunity.

This is not just about space. It’s about building the technology humanity needs, wherever we are.

Our slogan has never been more true:
You can’t go to Mars without Hydromars.
