Hydromars has been awarded a grant by the Swedish National Space Agency (Rymdstyrelsen) under the Industrial Space Research 2024 (Industriell Rymdforskning) program for the project SUSTAIN: Self-sustaining Universal Solutions for Technological Advancement in In-situ Nurturing.
Project SUSTAIN is a collaborative initiative that involves three academic partners: KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, and the Luleå University of Technology, where each partner will focus on specific work packages, contributing their expertise to achieve the overall objectives of the project.
This one-year project, commencing in January 2025, aims to assist Hydromars in finalizing a process for the complete recovery of water and nutrients in space. The process will be specifically designed to meet the requirements of next-generation space stations.
The outcomes of SUSTAIN are expected to contribute to advancements in both space technology and terrestrial applications related to resource recovery.
Further updates will be provided as the project progresses.
