On December 13, approximately 14 months after the project launch, Hydromars first space payload, Hydro4M2, was successfully delivered to The Exploration Company’s facility for integration into the Nyx capsule as part of Mission Possible.
Hydro4M2 represents Hydromars first orbital demonstration payload - a scaled-down prototype designed to validate core water recovery technology under the challenging conditions of microgravity. Once aboard the Nyx capsule, Hydro4M2 will undergo rigorous testing in a space environment, demonstrating its capability to enable efficient water recovery and purification.
Scheduled for launch aboard a Falcon 9 rocket in mid - 2025, Mission Possible will allow Hydro4M2 to capture and analyze critical metrics for its purification and recovery processes with a selected feed, focusing on parameters such as thermal profiles, pressure variations, and fluid dynamics in microgravity. These findings will directly inform the development of Hydromars full-scale water recovery system - a vital step toward enabling humanity’s long-term presence in space.
This accomplishment is a significant milestone in Hydromars mission to pioneer sustainable water purification technologies for space exploration.
Hydromars extends its gratitude to the entire Hydromars team, ESA, The Exploration Company, and all partners involved throughout the various stages of the project.
